There was a big storm here in NYC last night. When I got out of the subway after the gym I had to duck into the corner deli to wait out the worst of it. I have never seen so many of my fellow Williamsburgers in a corner deli at the same time. I browsed the aisles and ended up buying brown shoe polish and peppermint/ginger chews. Finally home, I couldn’t stop looking at the raindrops on my windows.

I took a shower and cozied into some fluffy socks with pompoms. Just because.

Laid on the sofa and admired the tiny diamond-like raindrops and the sharp lightning bolts cutting through the dark skies for a little while longer.

Then, I made myself some mashed potatoes, veggie dogs and sauteed leeks and onions. Feelgood food for not-so-good weather. It’s OK to eat on the sofa on a day like this.

The city a blur in the distance, I quickly fell asleep to the soothing sound of rain and thunder.

Det översta kommer från Citrine by the Stones och är gjort av beads handgjorda i Afrika. Det mellersta är vintage, inköpt på en gatumarknad i Miami, och är gjort av gamla indiska mynt (anna hette valutan) från kolonialtiden. Det nedersta, med Jungfru Maria på, är också från samma underbara gatumarknad, gissa om jag saknar den! De kostade bara typ en dollar styck också…

I love bracelets, preferable big ones with a lot of character. I buy most of my jewelry in second hand stores or at flea markets. These are some of my current favorites. The top one if from Citrine by the Stones and is made from beads hand-crafted in Africa. The middle one is vintage, bought at a street bazaar in Miami and made from old Indian coins (the currency was called anna) from the Colonial era. The bottom one, with the Virgin Mary, is also from the same awesome street bazaar, guess how much I miss that one! They were only like a dollar a piece too…
