On Thursday, I spent all day by the pool at The Ace Palm Springs. It was heated and felt like warm bathwater, in a good way.

I had a breakfast of fruit, yogurt, a bagel and coffee in the semi-shade, overlooking the mountains.

There were some nice yellow shower heads.

Nolifeguardonduty.

Bees buzzing around in these pink desert flowers.

Snow-capped mountains, canyons and palm trees in the distance. Pretty hard to beat that view.

I read a book, soaked up the sun, and cooled off in the pool.

In the afternoon, I had lunch at the poolside bar as well.

I sat there, soaking it all up, until the sun came down behind the mountains. Such a great lazy day.

Wednesday night, after a long flight from NYC and a long drive in the rain from LA, I checked into this lovely room at The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.

I love the trellises (such a good idea, and easy to DIY), and our room came with a record player and a patio with a fireplace.

I was very excited to be somewhere warm and sunny again. Not having to wear a jacket in the daytime rocks! The desert is really warm during the day, but gets cold as soon as the sun goes down.

Our room, number 215, was right across from the Ace Pool & Swim Club, where I spent quite a bit of time over the past few days…

Everyone in Sweden used to get a metal ID badge when they were born, not sure if that still is the case, but I just found mine in a drawer and started using it as a necklace. This time, with a Milajki angel charm clipped to it, for added fun.

I bought this suede jacket with rabbit fur lining in a vintage store in Toronto a few years ago, I love it but find there is a very short window of time each year when it’s actually possible to wear it — not too warm, not too cold. I need to come up with more ideas on how to wear it so I can use it more often.

I made this scarf last winter, knitting is one of my favorite winter-time relaxation activities. I’m going to start something new this week. Maybe a hat?

I have not worn this sweatshirt dress in years and was just about to put it in the Salvation Army box when I realized it could be fixed!

Out came the scissors and off came the bottom. Chop chop.

I’m still not sure what to do with what used to be the pockets. Take them off or maybe turn them into little bows?

Roll up the sleeves and there it was, a brand new shirt that I will actually wear.

My mom gave me this über-cozy white tube scarf for Christmas last year.

She knitted it herself — one for me and one for my sis.

That’s love.

Har suktat efter ett par nya jeansshorts ett tag nu och i när jag var på Beacon’s Closet i söndags bestämde jag mig för att köpa ett par second hand jeans och klippa till dem själv. Hittade ett par Paper, Denim & Cloth med fina fickor och bra färg, för $24.95. Egentligen hade jag tänkt mig ett par lite mer baggy, men jag tycker faktiskt att sådana passar bäst på smalare tjejer. På mig som inte är supersmal så känns ett par lite tightare bättre. Tänk på att helst klippa gradvis. Börja för långt på benet ner första gången, och klipp kortare och kortare tills du är nöjd. Om man klipper för kort går det ju liksom inte att sätta tillbaka. Har ni också klippt till egna shorts?

I’ve been wanting a pair of new denim shorts for a while now, and when I was at Beacon’s this Sunday I decided to buy a pair of second hand jeans and make them into shorts myself. Found a pair of Paper, Denim & Cloth with nice pockets, good color and a nice price tag ($24.95). I had originally planned to get a pair that were more baggy, but I actually feel those look better on skinnier girls. On someone not super skinny, like me, I feel that tighter ones look better. Remember to cut the shorts gradually. Start further down on the leg than you think and cut them shorter and shorter until you’re happy. If you cut too short it’s kind of impossible to make ‘em longer again. Have you ever made your own DIY shorts?
