There was a line up people outside 765 Madison Avenue on Sunday night. The reason may have been the Agent Provocateur store opening party. Or, these girls dancing in the shop window.

It was very crowded inside. Had I not dropped something on the floor these great stockings would have gone unnoticed.

One could not miss, however, this six-foot Paris Hilton lookalike.

They were totally playing up the sexy librarian look, with big glasses and red-haired beauties.

I thought this piece was really cute—definitely one of the more modest things on offer.

Great hip-jewelry piece.

The top floor had this big, really great chandelier—and more girls—of course.

I love this set, bull skull decoration and all.

With love in the air and champagne in the glasses it was a good early start to Valentine’s Day

We had a party and 0ne of my best friends, the widow Clicqout showed up.

As did a few lobsters, from the Red Hook Lobster Pound.

And warm, fresh, yummy bread.

At five to twelve, we went up to the roof. There were some fireworks but less than I had imagined.

I did put on a top hat. Funny hats is sort of a tradition at New Years.

It wasn’t that cold, which was very nice.

Under the mistletoe at the Inhabitat holiday party with gorgeous ladies Sarah and Emma. If the mistletoe would have actually made the picture, my air kiss may have looked less out of context…

This laptop sleeve was one of my faves from the Environment by Heather Heron collection that I got a preview of the other night. Unfortunately it does not quite fit my 15″ MacBook (that size is still in the works, so stay tuned).

I also found out that it’s made from recycled Swedish army fabric!! See the three crowns emblem there? So awesome. That, of course, made me love it even more.

The laptop sleeve could work as a clutch too, just sayin’…

The people who showed up were all extremely well-dressed. Love that.

I really dig this giant green bag. I always carry so much stuff around me that if I had this bag, I would totally fill it up with stuff, which, I think, would not be so good for my back. But, it would be perfect for some yurt camping in the California desert!

Me, on Last Night’s Party, from the CFDA/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge party a week or two ago. I think I’ve got two looks down here: “vampire chic” — the extreme paleness (which must be the flash, I’m really not THAT pale) and “wide-eyed surprise” — the look ever-so-popular in fashion rags.

Today is Diwali, also known as The Festival of Lights.

For Hindus, Diwali is the most important festival of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes.

On Wednesday, a friend hosted a Diwali gathering/showcase of goods from the site Exclusively In (today’s Friday Find — sign up!), which is kind of like a Gilt Groupe, with only Indian designers. There was lots of pretty jewelry.

I fell in love with this ring…

…and am head over heels in love with this harness/vest thing.

There were samosas too — all veggie and not too spicy. I had two.

The Indian cookies were crazy sweet. I think I ate two of those too, which was definitely one too much.

But hey, it’s Diwali, let’s celebrate!

So, my Halloween outfit was something like a gothic housewife…

perhaps the dark side of Betty Draper.

Death was there, drinking a beer.

So was Jesus, also sipping a beer. I’m glad we can all get along.

On the other hand, there are some who can’t. Prime example: Elin & Tiger Woods. (Although I think Tiger looks a tad too happy, no?)

I kind of regret not dressing up as Dia de los Muertos, like this pretty lady. Maybe next year?

Although, I think a human disco ball is pretty cool too. It spun around and everything!

I never buy anything for my costumes. I like the challenge of throwing something together with what I have at home. Last minute, of course.

The leotard, skirts, belt, pearl necklace and mask are all from H&M. The bag and earrings are vintage, the bracelet is from Majorca (bought nearly two decades ago). The wig has been part of other Halloween getups, including Betty Boop and Black Marilyn.

The stockings are from Betsy Johnson and the fuzzy housewife slippers are from Fredericks of Hollywood — I do actually wear them out on normal days, and sometimes when I vacuum (maybe).

Friday night, I went to a dinner party at the Art Director’s club. It was really the afterparty for The Feast Conference. I could not attend but followed it via livestreaming all day. The theme for the dinner was fall.

There was lots of yummy food by local purveyors. Really good fish, bread, cheeses and, served inside those tiny orange pumpkins, the best pumpkin soup I’ve ever had.

There was banjos, laughs and dancing.

And a pretty Mezcal table.

The people who had donated the food were very excited to talk about it, none more so that the wine guys, who jumped up onto a table.

Each table had colored pencils, for brainstorming worldchanging ideas. We did mostly girly doodles, but who says love can’t change the world?

At ten, it was time to go home. All week, I had waited for the moment when I would be home, in my bed, knowing I could just sleep in and not have to get up early the next morning. It was divine.
