So, here’s the deal, I’m not a Concrete Flower anymore.

A few months ago we decided it was time to leave NYC, in search of a different kind of life. Fate and good fortune put us in Ojai, in the mountains north of LA. Now, instead of discovering beauty and style in the urban landscape I will now look for it in the Los Padres National Forest or something of that sort.

I’ve also decided to refocus my career toward health and wellness, so please come with me to my new blog, Råfrisk & Råsnygg (means something like Raw Health & Hotness), where I will cover a mix of health, wellness, raw food, slow living, design and style.

Haven’t updated in so long now, ooops. Sometimes life just happens, right? I have lots of exciting news, but first I wanted to share an exciting new thing happening every Saturday in Williamsburg. Smorgasburg is a big food fair (a Brooklyn Flea for foodies!) featuring what seems like a hundred different food vendors.

We got lobster rolls from the Red Hook Lobster Pound. I’ll stray from my mostly vegan diet any day for one of these heavenly buttery rolls.

We brought them down to the park right there, on the Williamsburg Waterfront, which has a killer-view of Manhattan.

I wore this new romper by Society for Rational Dress that I bought (second hand) at Beacon’s Closet the other day. It’s going to be one of my total summer faves, I just know it. So comfy and easy to wear.

Having always been a Brooklyn-girl, I always forget how nice it is on the West side on Manhattan, down by Battery Park.

After a matinee movie screening the other day, we walked over toward the water and discovered this lovely oasis — the Irish Hunger Memorial Garden.

I wore my new pair of pink pants, scored at (second hand store) Beacon’s Closet for $24.95. They’re so hot pink the camera doesn’t know what to do with them. This is sort of the true color, even though they look salmon-colored in the other shots.

What I love most about New York is that you can still discover new things, even after living here for so long. I’d never seen this part of Battery Park before. Beauteous…

Before I moved to a different neighborhood (and, with that, different gym) in NYC I used to go to the Anti-gravity Yoga class at Crunch every weekend. It’s such a great way to relax and stay centered (nothing like the threat of falling and smashing your face on the floor to keep that focus!). When I saw that they had it at my old gym in Miami, I just had to go (and dragged a brave, unsuspecting friend with me).

Here’s a demonstration of a kick-up-back-flip kind of thing. It’s fun to just let go! I’m not sure if I would call this yoga, though, it’s more like a combination of aerial acrobatics and a great core strength workout.

The downsides, the hammock really puts a lot of pressure on your body, which can be very uncomfortable, and if you’re not used to all the hanging upside down (or haven’t done it in a while, like me) you can get a bit of a nauseating headache.

Miami is one long Endless Summer, just what I needed last week. Then, when I get back to NYC, it’s summer here too, yay! Happy Memorial Day everyone, may this summer be warm, endless and filled with lots of picnics and backyard parties.

These new Minnetonka boots will be with me for a very long time, I just have a feeling…

Located in a revamped old motel called the Lido Spa on Belle Island between Miami Beach and the Design District, The Standard is one of my favorite places in Miami. It’s far enough from South Beach that you don’t get annoying crowds, but close enough that you can walk or bike there.

Walk through the mod/scandi lobby through lush gorgeous gardens until you reach the pool area.

On a sunny day, the grill is such a great place to have lunch. It’s rarely crowded and…

…there is even a raw dish on the menu — “living” lasagna — hooray!

In the distance, you can see the building where I used to live.

If I still lived here, I would definitely join the club. Sunrise Yoga, Bayside — ummm, yes, please.

For dessert I just had to try the Vegan Ding Dong, which was a bit heavy for my taste, but still very good.

After that and a glass of cold rosé, I was definitely ready for a nap in the sun…

I started the day with a great yoga class at Synergy on Española Way. Then, I had some yummy green juice and a mani-pedi before meeting up wtih a friend for lunch at The Standard, one of my favorite Miami places (more on that soon). Could get used to this…

Despite a few glasses of beer, sangria and wine last night, I woke up early. My lovely hostess and I went to one of my favorite brunch places in Miami, A La Folie on Española Way, for a nice sunny sidewalk breakfast.

I broke my no coffee and dairy diet with my favorite bowl of latte.

And since I was cheating anyways, why not have a crepe with smoked salmon, brie and mushrooms? I am on vacation after all…

But, there was fresh-squeezed OJ, and fruit.

And a basket of tartine and croissants, ooops.

I dressed to match my breakfast, just something I like to do. And, I am realizing that I may need a haircut, since my hair seems to have begun defying gravity.

It’s nice to be on Española Way in the morning, when it’s quiet and peaceful. Quite the opposite of what it looks like at night.

A La Folie is on 516 Española Way (at Drexel). Get the savory crepes or the Royal breakfast.

When meeting up with friends for lunch in my old Brooklyn-neighborhood on Wednesday, I thought it was a great idea to bike there. Much better than the G train, right?!

Well, during lunch it started pouring and didn’t stop. So, as irony would have it, we ended up on the G train, with our bikes in tow. I’ve never taken my bike on the subway before, another NY-first to cross of the list I guess.

Once home, I changed out of my soaked clothes and into my cozy ones. Later, I decided my comfy western shirt could stay on and come with me to dinner…

I’m a little bit sad that my first week of freedom is all rain and grayness, but I am taking the time to read books and just chill. I’m also wearing jeans and hats like every day, since I couldn’t do that during those office-years. Yay!
