This is one of the shows I wish I would have seen live—just to see the movement of the fabric. I’ve written about Costello Tagliapietra before, commending their use of the waterless AirDye technique. They also won the CFDA/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge a few months back.

I love the bright colors, simple cuts and slight Mad Men-goes-disco vibe. These talented two have a very bright fashion future ahead of them.

I was too lazy/busy to go to any NYFW shows this time, but luckily I have some fabulous friends I can always trust to give me the scoop. Thanks Emma & Starre for great coverage of the Organic by John Patrick show.

Love the yellow coat, the chunky hand knit sweaters and the African-inspired beaded belts.

Very excited to hear that John Patrick used Sourcemap to show where his materials come from. Would love to see more designers do this — transparency is the future!

MY SEPTEMBER

My September started out in Hawaii, took me back to NYC for a while, for NYFW and The GreenShows. Then I was off again to L.A., Sky Farm and the Mojave Desert. Sometimes I get depressed because nothing fun seems to be happening, but then I realize that life is fucking good.

Luis Valezuela at The GreenShows. Love the elegantly draped (recycled) dress pant necklines, the recycled bottle-top ecoist bags, the big hair, the sophisticated makeup and the recycled lampshade fabric shoes. Volume was the word of the eve.

NYFW: EDUN S2011

Edun relaunched with a show set under the High Line in Chelsea. The models looked as if they were strutting in from the street. The collection was beautiful — flowy dresses, African beading, wearable prints, khakis and modern takes on wardrobe basics. The men were all ripped up and disheveled, just like we like them…

VINTAGE GREEN

Thought green was appropriate for the first day of The GreenShows. I found this dress at Guvnor’s Vintage Thrift in Park Slope, one of my fave places to shop for vintage. I think it was $27, definitely one of my best vintage finds ever. The boots are another, scored at Beacon’s Closet this weekend for $34.95 (more pics to come).

Backstage before Luis Valenzuela at The GreenShows. The hair was big and very teased. The makeup was classic vampy, albeit done with all natural eco products (by a guy with fabulous tattoos). The models were young, some a bit much so.

Hittade denna grå linnesak med huva på en av mina bästa thrift stores på LES häromdagen. På bild tycker jag nu nog att den mest ser ut som en säck, men i verkligheten gillar jag skarpt. Kanske inte allt gör sig på bild helt enkelt? Vad tycks?

Found this hooded gray linen thing at one of my fave thrift stores on the LES the other day. In photos I now think it looks mostly like a sack, but in real life I really dig it. Maybe everything is just not made for being photographed? What say you?

PRIMPING

Normalt sett så gör jag aldrig mycket innan klockan tolv på lördagar, men i morse var det upp och fixa framför badrumsspegeln som gällde. Edun‘s visning började kl.11 och jag, sen som vanligt, var mirakulöst på plats kl.10:59. Bilder från showen kommer snart.

TRANSLATION:
Normally I don’t do much before noon on Saturdays, but this morning I had to get up early and do some primping in front of the bathroom mirror. Edun‘s show started at 11 and I, late as always, miraculously made it there at 10:59 sharp. Pics from the show coming soon.
