I started the day with a great yoga class at Synergy on Española Way. Then, I had some yummy green juice and a mani-pedi before meeting up wtih a friend for lunch at The Standard, one of my favorite Miami places (more on that soon). Could get used to this…

Today is a good day, and I decided to start it off in the best way I know — with freshly made yummy green juice!

Yesterday was my last day at work and I am very excited about what the future has in store. Against the dark NY-skies, a toast to what’s to come.

Yesterday, Corporate America. Today, a future of possibilities.

Back in January, when I was in Hawaii, we were planning to go horseback riding.

Turns out we should have done the planning-part a little better, because all the rides were full.

Instead, we found this gorgeous path behind the horse ranch, where we made some new horse buddies.

At the end of the path was our reward: a pretty secluded beach.

It was a misty morning here in NYC, but clearly these images are not from here.

I temporarily misplaced the drive I used to store my newest pics, but instead was happy to find these…

…from another wonderful misty morning, on the Windward side of Oahu.

I miss digging my toes into that cool sand.

And waking up to the sound of nothing but waves crashing on the beach. Total bliss.

So I took a little break from blogging. Not because I’ve been “crazy busy” or traveling or anything. I just felt like doing other things. Like staying in bed for a whole day reading books, and taking long walks in the sun. Feeding the soul.

On a random tangent, I’m suddenly feeling like bootcut jeans with high-heeled boots are totally right again.

On Thursday, I spent all day by the pool at The Ace Palm Springs. It was heated and felt like warm bathwater, in a good way.

I had a breakfast of fruit, yogurt, a bagel and coffee in the semi-shade, overlooking the mountains.

There were some nice yellow shower heads.

Nolifeguardonduty.

Bees buzzing around in these pink desert flowers.

Snow-capped mountains, canyons and palm trees in the distance. Pretty hard to beat that view.

I read a book, soaked up the sun, and cooled off in the pool.

In the afternoon, I had lunch at the poolside bar as well.

I sat there, soaking it all up, until the sun came down behind the mountains. Such a great lazy day.

I miss the sunshine and sand between my toes. Two more months of winter in NYC… sigh.

I had a really good V-Day. My Valentine met me at the train with a bouquet of red tulips, cooked me a yummy dinner with lots of mushrooms and popped open a nice bottle of 1988 Chateau Latour that once belonged to Anna Wintour. So good!

Last night: watching hula dancing and listening to Hawaiian music under the kiawe tree at the House Without a Key, with a gorgeous sunset as the perfect backdrop. Just another day in paradise…

When looking back at the year that past, I spent some time going through photos. It’s nice to sit down and relive great moments, which is why I’ll be sending you a few postcards from the past. This one’s from January, 2010 — a gorgeous long weekend in Ojai.

We flew into LAX, rented a convertible and drove up the PCH. It’s the best drive in the entire world. The further inland you get the hotter it gets, and there are more cacti.

We arrived at Casa Barranca, an organic vineyard/yoga retreat high up in the mountaintops. Our room had a fireplace and a bath tub. We did yoga and some reflective reading. It’s so quiet up there.

The estate also has an incredible citrus grove, where you pick oranges, grapefruits and clementines right off the tree. I ate so many I was about to turn orange. We also petted dogs and drank lots of delicious organic wine.

We got up early in the morning to go for a hike over the mountain — a very LA thing to do. Morning chill turned into desert heat very quickly.

We also went for long walks, had big group dinners on the porch, went for a nighttime swim in the pool, played ping pong and formed a spontaneous jam band, but none of that made in into the camera.
