A SNOWY NIGHT

Concrete Flower: 101229: A Snowy Night

I usually see the East River, Williamsburg Bridge and Manhattan skyline from my windows. Not so much on Sunday night.

It was kind of scary actually, felt a bit like being in a fish tank.

It’s easy to see why flights had to be cancelled. We’re pretty powerless against Mother Nature…

The view the next morning was gorgeous. Photos to come.

IN THE STAIRS

Concrete Flower: 101228: In the Stairs

Everyone in Sweden used to get a metal ID badge when they were born, not sure if that still is the case, but I just found mine in a drawer and started using it as a necklace. This time, with a Milajki angel charm clipped to it, for added fun.

I bought this suede jacket with rabbit fur lining in a vintage store in Toronto a few years ago, I love it but find there is a very short window of time each year when it’s actually possible to wear it — not too warm, not too cold. I need to come up with more ideas on how to wear it so I can use it more often.

I made this scarf last winter, knitting is one of my favorite winter-time relaxation activities. I’m going to start something new this week. Maybe a hat?

BLIZZARD!

Concrete Flower: 101226: Blizzard

I wished for snow, and now I have gotten some. Quite a bit of it actually.

Concrete Flower: 101226: Blizzard

This is Battery Park, covered in a fresh coat of white snow.

As the day progressed you saw less and less of the tops of the buildings, because of the snow flurry.

Now, I can’t even see the Manhattan skyline from my window anymore. I wonder if the subway will run properly in the morning, when I have to go to work again?

GROUND ZERO

Concrete Flower: 101226: Ground Zero

When you have people in town you do things you normally wouldn’t. Yesterday, I took my family down to Ground Zero. This is one of the memorial crosses, made from rubble, that they have down there. Sometimes the wrong camera setting can make things a lot more interesting. What do you see?
