Toxic Cupcakes

Cupcakes som samhällskritik, love it.

Went to the opening of an exhibit called Sustainable Design Exchange last night. Some NYC designers will over the next three days show how they use sustainability principles in their work. There was a lot of handmade clothes and guest with crazy outfits. My faves, though, were cupcakes with (cut-up pieces of) a whole dollar bill in each one, toxic and inedible. The artist sold them for 25 cents even though they must have cost at least $1 a piece to make. Cupcakes as political commentary, love it.

Amazing! The one with the Goldman Sachs logo the best. Doilies too! Found out the artist’s name is Derrick Cruz from a company called Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons.
