Today was such a perfect New York Sunday — sunny and breezy. I decided to take a bike ride around Williamsburg.
Nothing annoys me more than people who ride their bikes like idiots. I decided that I should give all us two-wheeling citizens a good rep by being an exemplary bike rider, stopping at red lights and obeying all traffic rules.
I stopped in East River Park to lay in the grass and read the paper for a while.
The view of Manhattan is gorgeous.
The wind in my hair and the sun on my face felt so good that I forgot about everything else, including traffic behavior. On the last turn before getting back to my house, I made a sweeping turn to the left, only to have a car stop, breaks screeching, about a foot away from me. For a moment, I had become the embodiment of an idiot on two wheels.
