100531: Memorial Day on the Beach

Memorial Day och superfint väder. Vi begav oss till Rockaway Beach. Picnick-korgen fylled med hummus, bröd, singoallakex, vattten, hallon och “Swedish Fish.” På vägen hem blev det ett stopp för seafood och sen en lat kväll i soffan. Kollade  på dokumentären “Dogtown and Z-Boys” om skateboardingens början i Södra Kalifornien — ett klart sommarfilmstips.

Dagens: tunika från H&M, guldbikini från Target, hatt från Dockers (med guldhårband från H&M runt), drugstore-brillor, armband från H&M, snäckskalshalsband från Key West.

TRANSLATION:
Memorial Day and awesome weather. We took off for Rockaway Beach. Our picnic basket filled with hummus, bread, Swedish cookies, water, raspberries and Swedish Fish. On the way home we stopped for seafood and then settled in for a lazy evening on the sofa. Watched the documentary ‘Dogtown and Z-Boys” about beginnings of skateboarding in Southern California — a definite summer movie tip.

Today: tunic from H&M, gold bikini from Target, hat from Dockers (with a gold hairband from H&M around), drugstore glasses, cuff from H&M, seashell necklace from Key West.

100530: yellow + fringe

Detta promenerade jag runt i Brooklyn i igår efter min lååånga cykeltur till Coney Island och tillbaka. Det blev nog tre timmars bikande totalt, men cykelväg (riktig sådan, ingen vanlig NYC-variant som endast består av grön färg på sidan av bilvägen) nästan hela vägen. Det kan få bli en vana.

Dagens: blus från H&M, vintage fringeväst nyligen fyndad på Beacon’s Closet, gamla avklippna Roxy-jeans, Minnetonka-mockasiner, piloter från H&M, väska från Hayden-Harnett.

TRANSLATION:
This is what I wore walking around Brooklyn after my looong bike ride to Coney Island and back. I think it came out to three hours biking total, but there was a bike path (a real one, not the regular NYC-kind that only consists of green paint on the side of the road) almost all the way. Think I’ll have to do that more often.

Today: shirt from H&M, vintage fringe vest scored recently at Beacon’s Closet, old cutoff Roxy jeans, Minnetonka moccasins, pilots from H&M, bag from Hayden-Harnett.

Freaks, pinups, strong men and armwrestlers. Beaches, sunshine, ice cream cones and sailor chicks. Hot Dogs, Margaritas, Polar Bears and Mermaids. The Cyclone, screams, laughs and good times. Only an hour away by bike.

Beach

Sommarens första beach-dag, på Coney Island. Solkräm (så klart), blå tånaglar, rufsigt hår, sand, jordgubbar, läsning… underbart. Spelar ingen roll att det var tusentals andra människor på beachen. Jag myste i min lilla bubbla, och fick lite välbehövd färg på köpet.

TRANSLATION:
The first beach day of the summer, at Coney Island. Sunscreen (of course), blue toenails, messy hair, sand, strawberries, reading… wonderful. Little did it matter that the beach was packed with thousands of people. I was happy in my little bubble, and managed to get some well-needed color to boot.
