We had <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/09/beach-rainbow-malasadas/" target="_blank">so much fun</a> I haven&#8217;t even posted all the pics yet, but one of our favorite places was <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/24/malaekahana-one/" target="_blank">Friends of Malaekahana</a>, a campground where we stayed for two nights—<a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/03/01/malaekahana-morning/" target="_blank">one in the van</a> and one in a <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/24/malaekahana-one/" target="_blank">grass shack</a> on the beach—<a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/25/malaekahana-two/" target="_blank">made a fire</a>, and <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/28/malaekahana-three/" target="_blank">enjoyed the surrounds</a>. I <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/20/surfing-safari/" target="_blank">did not surf</a>, but had lots of <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/22/mai-tais-poke-health-food/" target="_blank">poke and a few Mai Tais</a>. Back home in NYC, I watched the <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/06/the-green-bay-packers/" target="_blank">Packers win the Super Bowl</a>, went to a <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/10/museum-cabaret/" target="_blank">party at MoMA</a> and an <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/18/lagent/" target="_blank">Agent</a> <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/18/provocateur/" target="_blank">Provocateur store opening</a>, spent a <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/17/tulips-mushrooms-fine-wine/" target="_blank">lovely Valentine&#8217;s</a> with my <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/14/love-is-everywhere/" target="_blank">love</a>. I don&#8217;t know about you, but <a href="http://concreteflower.se/2011/02/27/110227details/" target="_blank">I&#8217;m ready</a> for spring!</p>

<p>Today it was finally warm enough in NYC to go for a run. Pretty much the only route I can do without having to deal with intersections (hate having to stop at red lights!) is across the Williamsburg Bridge. The good thing is it&#8217;s kind of a hill, so you get a good challenging workout, the really bad thing is that the air you&#8217;re breathing consists of 50% car exhaust.</p>
<p><a href="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/CF_110226_Running2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4957" title="CF_110226_Running2" src="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/CF_110226_Running2.jpg" alt="Concrete Flower: 110226: Running High" width="640" height="427" /></a></p>
<p>Either way, it was a good run, I did twice across the bridge and back (about 1ok/6 miles, according to Google Maps) and really felt that my ramped up workout sched has been paying off. Such a good feeling! I also tried out some new Under Armour stuff that I scored for free at work this week. I&#8217;m one of those people who usually never buy workout clothes but instead relegate the ones I no longer want to wear as regular clothes to the workout pile, but the techy fabrics really do make a difference—I felt warm but not too toasty.</p>
<p><a href="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/CF_110226_Running3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4958" title="CF_110226_Running3" src="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/CF_110226_Running3.jpg" alt="Concrete Flower: 110226: Running High" width="640" height="427" /></a></p>
<p>I saw one guy running in a tank top and shorts (it&#8217;s only 4C/40F out!) and one girl going at a pretty good pace wearing an ankle length puffer coat. I love NY-runners.</p>

<p>Over 43,000 participants ran the 26.2 mile course through all five boroughs on Sunday. About 2.5 million spectators also came out in support of the runners.</p>
<p><a href="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3871" title="CF_101108_marathon2" src="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon2.jpg" alt="Concrete Flower: 101108: NYC Marathon" width="640" height="427" /></a></p>
<p>From my living room, I can see the Verrazano Bridge, where the start is, way in the distance. It was quite exciting to follow the race on TV and at the same time look out the window to see the runners pass in real life.</p>
<p><a href="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3872" title="CF_101108_marathon3" src="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon3.jpg" alt="Concrete Flower: 101108: NYC Marathon" width="640" height="427" /></a></p>
<p>From my kitchen window I saw the wheelchair participants, elite women and elite men pass by. Later, along Bedford Avenue, I cheered the &#8220;regular&#8221; runners on. I live between mile 10 and 11, which means they had about 15 more miles to go at this point. I think they needed some encouragement.</p>
<p><a href="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3873" title="CF_101108_marathon4" src="http://concreteflower.se/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CF_101108_marathon4.jpg" alt="Concrete Flower: 101108: NYC Marathon" width="640" height="427" /></a></p>
<p>As someone who has run a few half-marathons (best time, 1:55), I am of the firm opinion that you have to be crazy to run a full. I still want to do it some day. Maybe next year&#8230;</p>
