My March started out in Palm Springs, where I stayed at the Ace Hotel, spent days at their Swim Club, nights in the good company of friends and a morning trail riding in the mountains. In NYC, I enjoyed some pseudo-spring weather and a weekend trip to Upstate Callicoon, discovering an amazing farm stand and cuddling with the cutest baby goats. I bought some old things, some new things and some new old things, and thought a lot about simplifying my wardrobe and how to help the people of Japan. I spent five days in Baltimore, where I ate Bertha’s Mussels in Fells Point and was inspired by signage, ships, love grass, crabcakes and good luck. How was your March?

MY FEBRUARY

As February came around, I had left Waikiki and was on the roads of Oahu, traveling around in a ’78 VW Westfalia camper van. We had so much fun I haven’t even posted all the pics yet, but one of our favorite places was Friends of Malaekahana, a campground where we stayed for two nights—one in the van and one in a grass shack on the beach—made a fire, and enjoyed the surrounds. I did not surf, but had lots of poke and a few Mai Tais. Back home in NYC, I watched the Packers win the Super Bowl, went to a party at MoMA and an Agent Provocateur store opening, spent a lovely Valentine’s with my love. I enjoyed the few sunny days we had by taking long walks (sometimes stumbling across a new store), watched rainshine on my window, lusted for things to come and went for my first outdoor run of the year. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring!

MY JANUARY

I kicked off the new year with a visit to the top of Rockefeller center—nice to have a bird’s eye view of the city. My family was here and we took lots of long walks and ate way too much good food. I bought some rust-colored things and some faux things, and wore lots of bracelets. I was very excited about celebrities taking a stand on the red carpet, awesome designer collaborations and a documentary about the father of streetstyle. There were way too many blizzards and low temperatures, and I consoled myself by looking back at lovely trips I’ve taken in the past few years and sent you some postcards from the past. I finished the month in Hawaii (I have so many more pics to show!), working but very much enjoying the warm weather. A warm Aloha to you all.

MY DECEMBER

I was in New York the whole month, said goodbye to one group of visitors, vacuumed the house and soon welcomed another. I went to my first (and second) football game, a Broadway play, went touristing in Times Square, went to a Surf Bar and on an aimless walk. I had heaping nachos by a Christmas tree, custom cupcakes and a guacamole waiter. I wore my new Kånken backpack a lot, figured out how to blend in to my neighborhood, got a new winter hat, became friends with knitted tights, and wore a lot of hats and added to my collection of fluffy things. I got my face put on a calendar, lusted after the new Swedish Hasbeens, Louboutin’s eco-trash and things made from old tapes and bags made from recycled Swedish military fabrics. It was sunny and warm, then here was a huge blizzard and the aftermath was gorgeous. I went to a vernissage, bought a tree, blew a kiss under the mistletoe, celebrated Christmas with my family (and a lot of food), and rang in the new year with bubbly, lobsters and a great view from my roof.

MY NOVEMBER

I bought new boots —one pair of new closet faves, and seriously toasty winter ones. I wore my gray cashmere cape — a lot. In NYC, I got juiced up at Norma Kamali, celebrated Diwali, accidentally matched myself to the decor at Le Poisson Rouge and had beers in Jimmy’s alley. I watched NYC Marathoners run past my house and had Sunday date night at Juliette. Then, I flew off to Sweden to make a surprise-appearance, in an old silver dress, at an amazing wedding party. The weather in Sweden was gorgeous — a winter wonderland. I had lots of fika, hung out at my parents’ house, and bought a new winter hat. My Swedish Hasbeens also walked on Swedish ground for the first time ever. I also discovered great airport food and recycled Plaza numbers, chopped up an old dress, enjoyed warmer weather and good eats, got snapped at a CFDA eco party, saw the Rockefeller tree be put in place, celebrated Thanksgiving, and… my Birthday!

MY OCTOBER

It started out in the Mojave Desert, where I was nearly left in the dust, visited Pioneertown and 29 Palms, admired saloons and desert flowers. Back in Brooklyn I hung out by a truck farm and discovered Fultummy’s. I spent 21 hours in Dallas, with a stopover in Memphis. The world celebrated 10/10/10. Back in NYC, I saw friends on stage, took photos with apples, stepped in street goo, watched rain on my windows, biked in the sun, enjoyed a fall feast, did some community service, showed my face without makeup, admired the gorgeous colors of fall, and put on a lot of makeup for Halloween. I bought green boots and a coat, wore dad’s pants, old leopard and a scarf by mom, lusted for tie dye, bloomers, awesome shoes and fair trade fashion. I took issue with Vogue’s vague attempt at eco-fashion and raved about eco-chic NYC and stylish bags made from leather scraps.

MY SEPTEMBER

My September started out in Hawaii, took me back to NYC for a while, for NYFW and The GreenShows. Then I was off again to L.A., Sky Farm and the Mojave Desert. Sometimes I get depressed because nothing fun seems to be happening, but then I realize that life is fucking good.

It’s never too late for a little look back at the months that passed. This one went by way too quickly. Summer weekends out of town, camping, Swedish Hasbeens, a visitor from Sweden, a gift from Japan, cheese doodles and a trip to Hawaii. Goodbye August!
